205.9 yards passing (only the third time in school history that both the ground game and
aerial attack averaged over 200 yards each in the same season)

for blocking consistency as he registered 112 knockdowns, topped the team with 21
touchdown-resulting blocks and made 48 blocks downfield
Earned Victory Club (top
performances) in eight contests and picked up team Player of the Week honors vs. Kansas,
Kansas State, Texas, Iowa State and Nebraska
Started every game at
"tight" (right) guard.
- Kansas - Registered a season-high 15 knockdowns, cut blocking nose guard Nate
Dwyer on a 7-yard touchdown run by tailback Chris Brown and later leveled linebacker Alge
Atkinson upfield to spring Brown for a 40-yard scoring scamper as the team totaled 338
yards on the ground.
- Kansas State - Added 10 knockdowns, including one that brought down linebacker
Ben Leber on a 21-yard scoring strike from QB Craig Ochs to Daniel Graham.
- Iowa State - Brought down nose guard Willie Judd with a crunching forearm blast
on a 50-yard touchdown pass from QB Bobby Pesavento to Cortlen Johnson as the Buffs gained
502 yards.
- Nebraska - Added 13 knockdowns, executing a roll block to drop defensive end Chad
Kelsey as Brown turned the right corner for a 12-yard scoring run and the offense picked
up 582 yards.
- Texas (Big 12 Championship) - Followed with 14 knockdowns
Walled off
linebacker D.D. Lewis on a 22-yard touchdown pass from Pesavento to Graham as the team
amassed 334 yards.
- Oregon (Fiesta Bowl) - Shoved linebacker Wesley Mallard to the ground, clearing a
path used by Brandon Drumm for a 1-yard touchdown run.
2000 SEASON
Earned first-team All-Big 12 Conference honors from the leagues coaches and Football
News, adding second-team accolades from the Associated Press
Won the John Mack
Award, as selected by the coaches for being CUs most outstanding offensive player
Started the first six games of the year at center, and then moved over and started
the final five at tight guard
Played the second most snaps on offense, 771, and led
the team in domination blocks (74), touchdown blocks (9), downfield blocks (23) and great
pass protection plays (10)
Graded 87.4 percent for blocking consistency as the
offense averaged 362.0 yards per game.
1999 SEASON
Earned honorable mention All-Big 12 Conference honors from the leagues coaches
Started all year at center, playing the second-most snaps from scrimmage on the
team (789) and graded out to 86.3 percent for the year
Also second in knockdown
blocks (76), tied for first in touchdown-resulting blocks (24) along with eight downfield
blocks
Allowed three sacks and three hurries and was called for six penalties.
1998 SEASON
Entered the fall listed first at right offensive guard, but was switched to center
during fall drills
Suffered a setback in the Fresno State game, tearing cartilage
in a knee that forced him to miss the next six games
Returned to start vs.
Missouri, Nebraska and Oregon in the Aloha Bowl
In five regular season games he
played 239 snaps, with 26 knockdowns, six touchdown blocks and three downfield blocks
Allowed just one quarterback sack, one pressure and was called for only one penalty
in grading out to 81.6 percent for blocking consistency
Credited with a season-high
13 knockdowns vs. Colorado State.

junior), and was first-team All-District (22 5A) and first-team All-Greater Houston as a
junior and senior (when he also was his teams most outstanding offensive lineman)

86 percent blocking grade, with 67 pancake blocks, and allowed just one sack
Blocked for two backs that gained a combined 3,200 yards

tackle for the first time in his career as well, as he was in on 61 tackles (16 solos),
with 6.5 quarterback sacks, 10 tackles for loss, 16 hurries and two forced fumbles
